Demir Selçuk Sakmak

About

Hello, my name is Demir Selçuk Sakmak. I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Throughout my education, I have strived to integrate engineering not only with technical knowledge but also with teamwork, social responsibility, and leadership skills. During high school, I was part of teams that were shortlisted twice in CERN's Beamline for Schools (BL4S) competition. This experience allowed me to engage with the culture of scientific research at an early age and deepened my problem-solving mindset. Currently, I serve as the Head of the Corporate Communications Department at the ITU Albatros UAV Team and as the Head of the Mechanical Department at the ENRO Team. I am also a board member of the ITU Mechanical Engineering Club. One of my initiatives where I combine technical expertise with social responsibility is the Sakmak application, which aims to facilitate the digital transformation of small-scale farmers. As a fellow of the Mercedes-Benz beVisioneers Fellowship program, I continue to develop sustainability- and social impact-focused projects. My key interests include entrepreneurship, social impact, engineering design, and youth work. Through
