About
I experience the value of using new technologies like Big Data, AI, and algorithmic thinking to re-focus design and planning on relevant social and human issues. It can provide practitioners expanded capabilities for their decision making, to articulate the complex network of agencies involved in our environments' planning. I was awarded a Fulbright to Carnegie Mellon University to study computational thinking applied to design with the project “Architecture able to code”. The combination of new skills like AI, machine learning, algorithmic thinking, data science, and computer vision, while keeping a critical eye on quantitative methods and tradition of computation in design and planning, shaped my master’s thesis: “What you see is what you get: A Data-Informed Workflow for Architecture and Urbanism”, an innovative framework for spaces analysis and design. Its implementations in real urban settings involving cities stakeholders’ policy making, and bringing it to professional practice with a startup, oriented my current focus: exploring the future architecture and urban planning practice based on the digital realm, and providing scientific evidence for supporting decision making in
