Sichen (Shawn) Chao

About

I am currently a Technical Analyst at RAND working on AI, tech, and China policy initiatives. Previously I worked at IDA on supporting climate, AI, and innovation initiatives directed by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Before this, I studied Mathematics and Political Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During my time at MIT (including my 3 gap years), I had the opportunity to work extensively in both the financial investing sector and the technology space; through these endeavors, I gained experience working as a software engineer, Chief of Staff, product manager, and quantitative researcher. On the side, I make Youtube videos hoping not only to entertain others, but also to pass on the knowledge and experiences that I have gained throughout my life. I also still play badminton competitively competing in local and regional tournaments (with the occasional USA Badminton sanctioned tournament). I am an avid learner, and I enjoy meeting with other people and discussing various issues in order to learn new perspectives.
