About
At sixteen, I co-founded a company in Madrid that became the first in Europe to bring an Android phone to market. A few years later, we partnered with Mozilla to launch the world’s first Firefox OS phone. Then came Blackphone. We built it around a simple question: what if your phone protected you instead of exposing you? TIME named it one of the Inventions of the Year, and Silent Circle went on to acquire it. Since then, I’ve built and helped build ventures in very different worlds: tools to protect journalists in conflict zones, security for industrial infrastructure, sleep science. I also led strategic alliances at Snips, the voice AI company later acquired by Sonos. Most recently, I co-founded Pandora’s Way, which set out to turn a child’s first smartphone into a rite of passage. It didn’t survive as a business, but it showed me what I’d been circling all along. Every project I’ve loved has been about making our relationship with technology, and with each other, more humane, especially at the moments our lives change. Along the way, I earned my master’s at MIT in design, engineering and management, and ended up teaching its course on Experiential Ethics. I was a fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center. Today I teach decision-making and direct the Venture Lab at IE New York College. And in parallel, I’ve been designing immersive experiences for live audiences on four continents. That thread, the one that happens in a room, face to face, is the one pulling me forward now. Currently looking for a team or future team in New York doing something pioneering and ethical, where I can be the creative problem-solving force.
