About

I'm a long-time software engineer turned astrophysicist. My dozen year career in software infrastructure has equipped me with a large technical toolbox, as well as formal management experience. My current career goals are to bring this toolbox to bear on current research problems in Astrophysics. Despite my seniority I am extremely open to junior roles in science, and welcome the challenge of learning new things. I've built high-performance compute clusters out of Mac Minis, Programmed a Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic simulation in C# inside a game engine, and extended a Trans Dimensional MCMC algorithm for and upcoming gravitational wave detector. Along the way I've accumulated a ton of knowledge about distributed systems, performance bottlenecks, cloud computing, and the gritty internals that make modern technology work. As a leader I'm great at building inclusive and effective software teams who combine their strengths to solve challenging problems. I'm also good at joining struggling teams and helping them learn to work more effectively.
